1. Some people prepare for Easter through the season of Lent, which includes things like prayer, fasting, and time for reflection. What have you found helpful in your own preparation for Easter week?

2. Read Isaiah 59:1-4. In verse 1, why do you think Isaiah is talking about short arms and difficulty with hearing?

3. What do you think Isaiah 59:2 teaches us about sin? With this in mind, what do you think Isaiah 1:13-15 teaches us about worship services and prayer?

4. Compare Isaiah 59:3 with Isaiah 59:6b-7. Do you think these verses are figurative or literal? Just how far into sin do you think God’s people can wander? Explain.

5. Isaiah 59, verses 4 and 14, address the problem of God’s people failing to call for justice (“sins of silence” or “sins of passivity”). Would you agree that “evil triumphs when good people do nothing”? Explain.

6. Isaiah 59:12 says, “we acknowledge our iniquities.” Why is it so important for followers of Jesus to regret their sins and repent of them? (See Isaiah 59:20, Proverbs 28:13, and Hebrews 3:12-13)

7. Close by reading Psalm 32 out loud together.
