Life Group Questions for the Week of February 2, 2025

Feb 2, 2025 |

1. Read Luke 4:14-16. Jesus’ hometown was Nazareth; where is your hometown? How often do you get back to your hometown, and what do you think the people from there might say about your faith?

2. Verse 14 mentions that Jesus ministered “in the power of the Spirit.” Luke 3:22 and 4:1 also highlight the Spirit’s role in His life. How might this be a good example for us as believers today? (See Acts 1:4-5,8)

3. Read Luke 4:17-21. In verse 21, Jesus says that verses 18-19 are fulfilled. Explain whether you think we should understand this fulfillment literally, or in a more spiritual sense. How do you think verses 18-19 may or may not apply to believers today?

4. The quotation in verses 18-19 alludes to the Old Testament year of Jubilee, when slaves were freed, debts were canceled, and land was returned. How might this be a picture of our own forgiveness and salvation?

5. Read Luke 4:22-30. Jesus highlighted a time in Jewish history when God sent His prophets to bless some Gentiles rather than the people of Israel who were rebelling against Him. What lessons might this teach us about how we practice our own faith today?
