Life Group Questions for the Week of January 5, 2025

Jan 5, 2025 |

1. What is something that you think God may have in store for you in 2025?

2. Read Luke 2, verses 40 and 52. What might be the significance of the word “grew” in these verses? In what ways might it be helpful to imagine what Jesus was like as a child and what He did during His childhood years? In what ways might it be unhelpful?

3. Read Luke 2:41-42. How might Jesus’ parents’ example of devotion to God inspire us in our faith? (HINT: Gather is the first “G” in our Discipleship Pathway.) What may have been the significance of Jesus being 12 years old?

4. Read Luke 2:43-47. What do you think verses 46-47 teach us about Jesus?

5. Read Luke 2:48-50. Jesus’ parents had been anxiously searching for Him for 3 days. Try to put yourself in their sandals; given the emotions Jesus’ parents were feeling, how do you think you might have responded to Jesus’ explanation in verse 49? Beyond the emotions of this moment, what do you think these verses teach us about Jesus’ identity and mission?

6. What might Jesus’ response in verse 49 (“I had to”) teach us about the priority of doing God’s will, even though it may sometimes cause anxiety or distress for those around us?

7. Compare Mary’s response in Luke 2:51 with Luke 2:19. What things are you still pondering about Christ?
