1. Read Romans 15:1-13. What do you think Paul means by “the failings of the weak”? Does it surprise you that he urges the strong to bear with these failings rather than correct them? Explain.

2. Read 1 Corinthians 8:10-12. What might this teach us about how to love one another? (see 1 Corinthians 8:1) Would you agree that our consciences are a gift from God, and yet can also be quite fragile? Explain.

3. At what point would you say that our efforts to please one another might go too far, and result in things like “people pleasing” or settling for a watered-down faith?

4. How do you think Christ’s example in Romans 15:3 might shape our approach to surrendering our freedoms for the sake of others? (Consider John 4:34 in light of eating whatever we want.)

5. How might the Old Testament Scriptures, which were written in the past, be relevant to believers’ today? (Romans 15:4)

6. How is “glorifying God with one voice” so much bigger than just singing? (Romans 15:5-7)

7. In light of all that we’ve been learning, why is it so important to keep the power of the Holy Spirit in mind? (Romans 15:13)
