1. What is some of the best advice you’ve ever been given? What is some of the best advice you’ve ever been given, but then ignored it, and regretted it later?
2. Read Luke 6:46-49. How much experience have you had with building a house? How about building other things? In what ways do you think a well-built house illustrates a well-built life?
3. What faith lessons might we learn from the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Can you think of an example of when your life was leaning dangerously to one side, and you spent energy trying to prop it up, rather than fixing the foundation?
4. What kinds of storms have you encountered in your life lately? (A relational storm, work storm, health storm, financial storm, or some other storm.) How has building your life on the foundation of Jesus Christ helped you? Have any of these storms revealed areas in your life that need to be rebuilt on Christ?
5. How would you compare obeying Jesus’ words out of submission to His Lordship, to obeying them out of a loving relationship with Him? (See John 14:15; 1 John 5:3)
6. Read Proverbs 24:10. How do you think this might relate to Luke 6:48-49? (See 1 Samuel 2:2; Psalm 18:2)
