Life Group Questions for the Week of November 17, 2024

Nov 17, 2024 |

1. There are countless depictions of the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary in film, art, and music. Do you have a favorite? How do you picture the scene in Luke 1:26-38?

2. Skim through the passage from last week (Luke 1:5-25). What do you notice is similar to Luke 1:26-38? What is different about these two birth announcements? Why do you think Luke links these two accounts?

3. Read Luke 1:37 (NIV). If you have other translations in your group (ESV, KJV, NLT, etc.) compare them. What do you think it means that “no word from God will ever fail” (NIV)? What assurance does that give you? What promises in Scripture do you find yourself returning to again and again?

4. Take time to read 2 Samuel 7:1-17 in full. What promises does God make in this passage? If you have time, look at Isa. 9:6-7; Isa. 11:1-2; Jer. 23:5-6; Ezek. 34:23-24; Acts 13:22-23; Heb. 1:8-9. What do these passages have in common?

5. Pastor Eric said that “every single promise God makes in Scripture finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.” What does that mean? Would you agree? Why might this be something to keep in mind as we read the Bible?
