1. How did you do with the time change this week? How do you feel about the days growing shorter as we approach winter?

2. Why do you think the theme of light is so prevalent in Scripture? What makes light such a good metaphor when describing God’s revealed word and our response to it?

3. Read Luke 8:16-18. Our problem isn’t a lack of access to the light. Too often, it's a lack of interest. Why do you think this is the case? What is the solution?

4. Read Romans 1:18-21. What does it look like for someone to “suppress the truth” or hide the light they have? When do you tend to behave this way?

5. It’s important to consider *what* you’re listening to, but why is it necessary to consider carefully *how* you listen? (v. 18) What do you think this looks like in practice? What is one next step you can take?

6. Read Luke 8:19-21. What are some ways people can confuse proximity to Jesus with knowing him personally? Was there a time in your life when you confused the two?
