1. Welcome back to Life Groups! If you’re joining a Life Group for the first time, share with your group why you chose to get started this fall. If you’re returning, share what you’re looking forward to as part of your group.

2. What was your most challenging subject in school? What did it take for you to make progress in that subject from grade to grade?

3. The gospel is a term we frequently use as Christians, but what we mean by that term can vary from speaker to speaker. What are some examples of answers to the question “What is the gospel?” that you’ve heard, and how do they compare to what Paul describes in 1 Cor. 15:1-4?

4. Some may describe the gospel as antiquated, and others as timeless. Should Christians be concerned that they are following a two-thousand-year-old religious philosophy handed down to us over the centuries by flawed human beings? What in this passage encourages you that the gospel is an unchanging message of good news?

5. Take a minute and focus on the phrase found in 1 Cor. 15:3, “Christ died for our sins.” What stands out to you about that simple, yet powerful statement?

6. 1 Corinthians reveals a number of common symptoms of possessing a superficial grasp of the gospel. In particular, we talked about a spirit of consumerism within individuals as well as churches. Where have you seen this spirit arise within your heart and/or your church? What’s the answer?
